CutiePaTooties

About Lauren:
How did you get started with your business?
I started cloth diapering my son and I wanted to provide affordable, high quality, adorable cloth diapers for everyone!

Who or what was your inspiration?
My inspiration is definitely my son! I wanted to cloth diaper him from the time he was born, but it was just way too much upfront money. Once I found affordable cloth diapers I wanted to share them with everyone! Even if it means I don't make much money, I just wanted to give everyone the opportunity to cloth diaper with affordable as well as high quality (and of course adorable!) cloth diapers.

How long have you been doing what you do?
I have been cloth diapering my son since he was about 15 months and he is now almost 2. I just started my business in January of 2012.

What is your motivation? What are you passionate about?
I am so passionate about cloth diapering! I love that it saves so much money, it is so much better for the environment, they are better for my baby's bottom, they are super cute, and it is so easy! I couldnt imagine the alternative. I want everyone else to be able to experience the joy of cloth diapering, even if they don't have very much money to spare!

Where can we find you when you are not working? How do you spend a day off?
Spending as much time as possible with my almost 2 year old son. I work from home so that I can always be with him, but I love taking as much time away and spending time with my son.

Is there anything else you want to share about yourself?
I am 20 years old and I am currently a full time stay home mommy to my 22 month old son, a full time student, a full time housekeeper, and I am engaged to my son's father (my high school sweetheart).

About the diaper:

Design:

This CutiePaTooties diaper is a pocket diaper. The inside wicks moisture away from the skin. The outside is super soft and waterproof. There is elastic on the back and in the legs. It comes with one 3 layer insert. It has a snap closure.

Sizing:

It is a one size diaper. It is meant to fit most babies from birth to potty training (6-35lbs). The snaps are 3x3 and there are crossover snaps to fit event the smallest baby.

Material:

It is made of 100% polyester with a waterproof urethane coating. The inside is microfleece. The outside is a super soft minky! The insert is 3 layers of microfiber.

Here is a close up of the snaps. They are 3 across and 3 down.

Here it is in comparison to a size 1 sunbaby diaper.

As you can see in the picture below. The CutiePaTootie insert is wider. I have found this makes it easier to fold and is less bulky in the diaper.

They are both about the same width in the middle

The openings are very different with these two pocket diapers. The CutiePaTootie diaper has an elastic opening vs. a flap opening like the Sunbaby diaper. At first I though I wouldn't like the opening because I was so used to Sunbaby and bumGenius, which both have the flap. I found it was a little harder to stuff the diaper but it was much easier to pull it out when it was soiled. It was much easier when there was a big poopy diaper! Sometimes, with a Sunbaby diaper, the poop gets on the flap and I have to fold it up to pull out the insert. With the CutiePaTootie diaper it was a little less messy so it made it worth the extra stuffing time.

Here the elastic is very similar. It is wide and soft. It seems very comfortable to me.

Here you see that the CutiePaTooties diaper has 3x3 snaps and the sunbaby diaper has 2x3 snaps.

Here it is on my 4 month old. He fits in it great. I used the second hip snaps and the smallest waist snaps. We have not had any leaks. He is about 13.5 lbs.

What do I ♥ about it?

I love how soft the minky fabric is on the outside! The pattern is very cute as well. It would be great for a boy or a girl. I like the fit. I put it on similar to how I use a Sunbaby diaper with the hip snaps first, so it was really easy to use. I like how the snaps are side by side. The insert is really easy to pull out. The stitching looks flawless.

I especially like the prices! You can get 5 patterned diapers for under $50 including shipping right now!

The nice thing about pocket diapers is that you can customize the inserts. You can use a hemp or bamboo insert instead, if you please, or you can double up for night time and it is still just as easy to put on. You can get bamboo inserts at CutiePaTooties By Lauren.

What would I change?

The snaps are not reinforced. The other pocket diapers I own have an extra layer to reinforce the snaps. This diaper seems very sturdy but I would like to see the snaps reinforced to ease my mind since I am pulling on them every day.

What do I think overall?

I think this is a great diaper and it seems very comfortable. I haven't had any leaks so far. I am pleased with it. It works great when we are out an about. It dries very fast. I line dry the cover.

You can find more than just diapers at CutiePaTooties By Lauren. You can get inserts, liners, wet bags, changing pads and leg warmers. She even sells handmade custom diapers and crochet items like booties, headbands, bows and hats. I love that Lauren strives to make her products affordable for all!
