Sunbaby 4.0 Pocket Diaper Review and Giveaway (CLOSED)

 About Sunbaby:

Sunbaby diapers were started by Sun pei, a wife and mother in Shanghai, China. Her diapers are produced under fair labor conditions. She and her husband are the only sellers of Sunbaby diapers in China to ensure quality. You can read more about their story here. They have great customer service and Sun pei has personally answered all of my questions. I have been using Sunbaby diapers for over 2 months now and I am very happy with them. Sun pei was willing to send me a diaper to review and will also be sending one out to one lucky Earth Faerie Momma reader.

The Diaper:

Design: This is a one size diaper, which means it will fit most babies from birth to potty training. It is also a pocket diaper, which means it has a pocket to stuff inserts. They are only available with snaps.

Sizing: It will fit most babies from 7-35 lbs. There are 3 snap rise settings to adjust the fit. There are now two sizes to choose from to get the best fit. The rise is just slightly larger on the size two. I will show you more with pictures below.

Material: The outside is made of a waterproof polyurethane laminante (PUL). The inside is a soft micro fleece lining, which wicks the moisture away from the skin. The inserts are made of microfiber.

What I ♥ about it?

This is definitely one of my favorite pocket diapers. I love all the patterns there are to choose from. The patterns are updated and changed around every 2 months. I love how thick the elastic is. It feels like it is good quality and will last for awhile. It doesn’t leave marks as bad as some of the diapers with thinner elastic do. The ones I have been using, I ordered in November of last year. I believe these to be a size one. With this size I have not had any major leaking problems. I started using these diapers on my son when he was about 3 weeks old and about 8 lbs. There was a bit of leaking in the legs at first but as his legs thickened up the fit became perfect. I air dry the shells and they dry very quickly. Compared to the all in one diapers I own that take up to 24 hours to dry. The pocket design is really nice. The flap opening is similar to bumGenius’ pocket diapers. It makes it really easy to pull out a dirty insert!

The inner fabric is nice. I actually prefer micro fleece to micro suede (which is what bumGenius uses). It dries faster and is much softer. Both of these materials work well at keeping the skin dry.

Here is the Sunbaby 4.0 diaper I received with 2 microfiber inserts. One is slightly smaller than the other. They both feel like they have 4 layers of fabric.

Vallon is modeling the, oh so cute, “Melody” pattern. It just goes to show that “Tough Guys Wear Pink!” I promised my husband that I wouldn't dress him in girls’ clothes like I did with my little brother. I really wanted a little sister. :)

He is wearing a size two here. They fit good, but not as well as the size one. He is now 3 months and 13 lbs. On the size one I use the second hip snap. On the size two I use the first hip snap. I’m sure they will fit much better in a couple months. Just to get a good idea on size, my 3 year old can still wear the size one diaper on the largest setting without the hip snaps. He is about 31 lbs and has a 19 inch waist.

The size two is just slightly larger in the back of the diaper then the size one (in frog print).

Here is the Sunbaby diaper compared to a bumGenius one size. The Sunbaby diaper is just slightly trimmer between the legs.

Here is a close up of the difference in the elastic. As you see the bumGenius elastic is much thinner.

What would I change?

I would not change anything about this diaper itself! The ones I have work great for my little one. I love the snaps but I would like to see to option of aplix (velcro) in the future. These diapers do not work as well for skinnier babies though.

I do think that these diapers can sometimes be a bit inconsistent. The ones I ordered in November are slightly different then what you can order now.

What do I think overall?

In conclusion, I am very happy with these diapers. I think they are great quality and you can’t beat the price. Sun pei is constantly working to improve her diapers and should have bamboo insert available for purchase soon.
